When we think of ourselves in parts it can help us to make sense of how we present to the world around us. A helpful way to think about this may be to draw a circle and then write in the circle all the different versions of yourself you have been in the last 24 hours. Have you felt the happy part, jealous part, or complying part? Each part has its own desires, needs and views within our world. Sometimes we dismiss parts that we view as negative as they are seen as not serving us well. However, by exploring these parts in a safe, non-judgemental relationship we begin the process of understanding their purpose and the impact they are having on our lives. Once they become more familiar we are more able to understand why they are there and become more accepting of all our parts enabling us to feel more comfortable in our sense of who we are.
