When we have experienced trauma we may become overly sensitive to our environment, our brain structure may change meaning our amygdala becomes oversensitive. Most of our sensory information goes through our amygdala which arouses our bodily reactions and can make us hyper-aware. We notice things that change or are new within our environment. Although our body is trying hard to keep us safe when a threat feels imminent these responses can be especially difficult for children and teens in the school environment. Here at Essere, we help to reduce these responses with children, teens and adults too. #trauma #amygdala #esseretherapes #askforhelp
