It’s sometimes difficult to put words around our training experiences but, as a group of participants, we always seem to feel safe quickly. This then allows us to explore parts of ourselves that can feel vulnerable, or raw, and that’s when we notice the coming together of a group, the growth. We (Catherine and Helen) believe that enabling this process starts with us, the people holding the space. We offer the conditions of warmth, empathy, compassion but also vulnerability at times too, alongside a strength to hold the group process and we then we find those in group begin to hold each other with kindness and empathy as well. In our trainings, learning and exploration is always linked to the use of imagery, creativity and nourishing conversations.
About Coffee helped us through the parts of the days when we need a boost with their amazing coffee. We find that stepping outside and taking a breath is a good way to stay connected with the world and balancing the immersive experience of our training. We feel grateful to have so many shops and cafes on our doorstep here in Colne to dip into on breaks.

We love our work with other counsellors and will be sharing information about further group sessions soon. If you’re interested in attending one of our events in the future, we thought it might be helpful to hear from someone who joined us on our recent training on working with teens …

“Thanks so much for running the teens training!! I have learned so much about different ways of working with teenage clients and also about how my own teenage part can be a hugely valuable resource to tap into when working with teen clients. It has been a really enriching course to be part of.
The techniques and tips I’ve learned over these 3 days will definitely help me to feel more confident when working with teens in the future.”
