Do you find yourself keeping busy so you move away from your thoughts and feelings?
When we learn this coping strategy it can make us sometimes feel disconnected from others almost like we are in our own world.
Disconnecting from the world can help us initially to feel safe but in the longer term we can feel lonely and it can become exhausting.
We often do this because we struggle to live comfortably with our own thoughts or feelings, it’s like we are not comfortable in our own bodies…
If we want to reconnect with the world sometimes we have to reconnect with ourselves first, this can feel overwhelming on our own so we may need someone alongside us whether that’s a friend, therapist, pets or something that brings us a sense of creativity and joy ☺️
